I recently bought an ASUS 1005 PE netbook that supposedly has bluetooth capability. I put my cell phone with bluetooth on discovery mode…but I can’t find the netbook anywhere. I don’t know how to put the netbook into discovery mode and find it on my cell phone either. I looked around the side of the machine to see if there was a button to activate it, but no luck. Seems to be an easy answer once I find it. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Call me an addict, but I need the best. I need a pc case that can accommodate the Asus P6T7 WS SuperComputer motherboard, 2 ATI Radeon HD 5970s, a soundcard, wireless card, and tv tuner, (those last 3 weren’t specific because I’m not sure what I want yet. ) “But wait!” you exclaim, “That is a total of 7!” I know, but I also want to use liquid cooling seeing as how I’m going to overclock an intel i7 and the graphics cards. I will need 3 water blocks. This stuff will take up a lot of room, so I’m thinking an external reservoir, that will enter the case with a pci expansion plate. oops, I babble, better to be brief, what is the best case to house all this? I also need room for 5 harddrives. (I’m going to do RAID 1+0) and 2 blu-ray readers and dvd burner/readers. I have problems, I know. What case should I use?

TC 422, I noticed something in your answer, if you put waterblocks on the card, the bracket is still x2 wide. if the cards are 1 pcie slot apart, that leaves one usable one in the middle, that still has the bracket with vent holes on it, unless is misread your answer. Could I purchase a x1 width bracket to put on in lieu of the x2 wide one?

I know the pros and cons of having a glossy vs matte books. Yes, better contrast and viewing angles for the glossy, while having high reflective surfaces on bright environmental conditions.

However, I think this will depend on a model-to-model basis. Some glossy screen might be less reflective, while some matte may have better contrasts/sharpness to them.

I am planning to get an Asus Netbook (1001 or 1005), and more leaning towards the matte version, however, if contrast/sharpness is much worse than the glossy, I might reconsider. Please, tell me your experiences/opinions if you have one or the other. If you have both, even better.

For starters, I have an ASUS Eee PC 1000H, whose hard drive I plan to upgrade.

If I take my 80 Gb SATA now, upgrade it to 320 Gb, and then use the support DVD from ASUS to restore the Eee to it’s original factory conditions (by GHOST32.exe to Windows XP Home, blah blah blah), will I find that there are 40-Gb/34.5-Gb partitions with the rest (roughly 160 Gb) as unpartitioned space? Or will I end up with two, 160-Gb partitions?

Hi I’m looking at buying a Asus eee pc Win. I must have windows so I can use internet explorer to acess the internal website and it’s applications etc for work.

How much space does windows take up on the ‘hard drive’ when the computer arrives? And how much space does XP take up once you have installed the services packs etc?

Tempting as it is to buy the linux version and install window to get the extra memory in my case I don’t think it’s necessary as the only program I will be storing on the computers internal memory is rosetta stone.

I have windows XP pro and its my school computer, i was told there was a website i have to download in order to be able to set a picture as my desktop item, it wont let me anyother way i’ve tried right clicking and doing it by going “set as desktop image” and right clicking on the home page and going into settings display, because its my school computer i cant, but others have.

I’m thinking of changing from my HP TC1100 computer, which runs on the Pentium M 733 processor to the ASUS Eee PC 1000H, which runs on the Atom N270. Aside from the lack of a tablet function, will I notice any better performance on the Eee PC, assuming that I will install similar programs on the Eee PC as I did on my TC1100? My TC1100 has 2GB of RAM; will upgrading the Eee PC from 1GB of RAM to 2GB make a difference?

Windows 7 suddenly won’t boot up in my ASUS Eeepc 1005 Netbook. So, I decided to reformat it using the recovery disc it came with when I bought the netbook. I’m using an external dvd-rom to run the cd. I chose to boot from floppy/cd-dvd in BIOS. But it won’t boot up the recovery disc. I kept on restarting and it still tried to load up Win7 (which will only give me a black screen since Windows is my problem). Then, I tried to disable booting from the HD in BIOS and only gave the choices to boot from cd-dvd first, and removable disc second. I restarted and it gave me this message:
“Reboot and select proper boot device or input boot media”
I do not know what else I can do to successfully reformat it. Help anyone?

(btw, I’m using a different pc to type this as my Windows in the netbook totally won’t load)
It came with Win7. I already put the cd-dvd boot sequence on top priority, but it still won’t boot the recovery disc.

I am debating between the samsung nc10 Special edition which runs for 499 and the Asus Eee PC 1000HE which is 374, from amazon.

Both are 10.2 inch screens, with good keyboards. memory and ram is the same. The battery life about the same.

I never real owned an Asus and never real heard of them until recently.

I am a college student who take all my classes right after each other…so i need about 8-9 hours battery life since i like to purchase the ebook when i can

I need it light weight Max 3 pounds with 6 cell battery. Ill spend no more then 500 on the computer but i really want one that’ll last me at least 2-3 years.

I tried out the HP MINI 1000 i loved it but battery life was horrible.

here are the contenders ive been considering:

asus eee 1005 ha-vu

I like the toshiba and asus mostly cuz they have 6 cell batteries. however they both cost aboout 310.
also is a .3mp webcam really bad cuz i think they all have 0.3 mp webcams and i dont know if i need a 1.3mp one though (just for skype or oovoo)

I could get the acer aspire one for like 250 (friend bought on black friday) but it doesnt have the 6 cell battery so unless the 6 cell costs 60 or less im not too interested in the acer.

Also i plan to upgrade the ram to 2gb for 40-50 bucks i think – kingston or crucial or other?

Experienced users advice would be nice – this is my first netbook! just going to do basic functions, probably download and watch alot of videos too. k thx.
